Thursday's block is an appliqued stylized flower pot named Happy Happy. After I adhered the pieces to the background, I sat down at my Bernina 830, dropped the feed dogs and began. I had nothing in mind other than maybe some herky jerky around the flower coins. That didn't happen! As I began to sew, rather than herky jerky, I was making inward pointing little e's, then out came these oval things! I finished up using machine stitches for the stems and around the pot. Might be a bit funky, but it was what made me Happy at the time!
Finally put a quilt on the frame again. I've been away from it so long I feel like a beginner again. Here is a 5 yard bundle quilt which came with a pattern called Jack & Aves that I quilted yesterday. I follow Whirls 'N Swirls Quilting on FB. She is out of Canada and puts out a short video each day for 100 days. This is her 3rd year. I decided to try one of her designs on this quilt. Easy design, but not such great quilting on my part. Seems I've lost control! More practice required for sure. haha
This butterfly block is called wings. Some are embroidering antennae and some are not. I'm in the not category! Some used all the pieces, some made the 4 patches into one fabric. As you can see, I'm in the all the pieces category! Had to do some frog stitches. I lost a few points with these tiny 1.5" squares!!
The first block of 100 is the Hearts A Flutter. Cute little 6.5" unfinished block with a heart applique. Machine applique for me, of course, and I couldn't resist adding some decorative machine stitches.
Thought I'd post a shot of the rag quilt after washing. Took it to a commercial laundry expecting to see washers with agitation. Nope. They were all front loader tumbling machines. Washed it there anyway since those are heavier duty than mine. The clips fuzzed up pretty well and will get fuzzier as the recipient washes it.
Darn Pat Sloan and her friend Jane! Roped me into another one! haha First block comes out Feb 14, then every Sunday & Thursday. These blocks are provided to us free from 80+ designers all over the world! They will be 6" finished blocks, some pieced, some paper pieces, some applique, some to be hand done (yeah, right...I have a very smart machine! ). Sure hope I can keep up.
I made the bonus/sample block for this upcoming quilt along.
